Biography:

Shane Bannister Carwin and his two brothers were raised by his mother, who had the goal of getting all her sons college educations. He received a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines as well as a bachelor's degree in Environmental Technology from Western State College.  Carwin became an engineer out of college and continues to work in that field while pursuing his MMA career. Carwin is also a volunteer wrestling coach for the University of Northern Colorado.

Do you have any heroes? My mom, she raised three boys on her own and her major goal was to make sure all we all received college degrees.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC?
It’s a real dream come true. The UFC is the NFL of mixed martial arts.
